Adoption

Giving away a much loved pet is a very hard decision for any owner. It can be for any number of reasons, but often I find the most important thing on the owner's mind is that the tortoise goes to a home similar to the one it has at the moment, and someone that will not sell the tortoises on for profit.

Over the years of running this website, I have had quite a number of people contacting me with regards to re-homing one of their much loved tortoises, mostly for reasons out of their own control, such as a job change, change of house, and even a new baby. Whatever the reason, I will endeavour to find you the most suitable home for your tortoise, and will always listen to your needs when re-homing your much loved pets. Sometimes it is the case that the owner would prefer the tortoise to be re-homed into my own group. If this is the case, I will endeavour to do this when possible, however sometimes it is in the tortoise's best interests to be re-homed with another owner.

I have a database of suitable homes for different species, so I will endeavour to find you a home for any species of tortoise.

If you would like me to assist you in re-homing your tortoise, then you can contact me at; tortoise_dude@yahoo.com

Likewise, if you are interested in being added to our re-homing database, then please e-mail me on the above address for more information.

Re-homing Guidelines:

1.) I will endeavour to find homes who I can trust will not sell on or give the tortoise away.

2.) I will not re-home tortoises to keepers who keep different species of tortoise in the same enclosure.

3.) If you wish to remain the legal owner of any tortoise you are re-homing, then I advise you to seek further legal advice.

4.) Re-homed tortoises do not become property of tortoise-world or anyone affiliated.

5.) I vet all homes that are in the re-homing database- this includes pictures, and information about how they will keep the tortoise. I will not re-home a tortoise to anyone who does not provide pictures of both indoor and outdoor enclosures.

6.) Whilst most people who re-home tortoises are more than happy to keep in touch with the tortoise's previous owners, tortoise-world.com cannot guarantee this applies to all people willing to give a tortoise a home.

7.) Tortoise-world reserves the right to alter it's re-homing policies without prior notice.

8.) No part of this re-homing service is legally binding. If an owner wants a legally binding contract to be written, then I advise that they get appropriate legal advice.
